No. Folio merges, splits, compresses, rotates, watermarks, and numbers PDFs inside the browser tab. The file is not sent to Folio or to the host.

Folio is a free website that merges, splits, compresses, rotates, watermarks, and numbers PDFs in the browser. The file stays on the device that opened the page. Folio does not upload it.
The site itself is a folder of static files, so Cloudflare Pages or Netlify can host it without a server, a database, or an account for your visitors.

Common questions
Can I host Folio for free?
Yes. Folio is a static website. Cloudflare Pages can host it on the free plan. Set the framework preset to None, the build command to npm run build, and the output directory to out.
Does Folio need an account?
No. There is no sign-in. Open a tool, add a PDF, and download the result.
Can Folio open a password-protected PDF?
No. Folio only opens unlocked PDFs. It also refuses files larger than 80 MB so the browser tab does not run out of memory.
Does compression keep the text selectable?
Light compression repacks the file and keeps text selectable. Strong compression redraws each page as a picture, which usually makes scans smaller and means the text in that copy can no longer be selected.
